Meet the Artist

Internationally acclaimed cellist and creator of The Music Portal.

My journey as a classical musician has taken me across the globe—from Carnegie Hall to Saturday Night Live, to schools, prisons, nursing homes, hospitals, and hospice rooms. I’ve spent decades exploring the emotional worlds of masterworks written over the past three centuries and the pieces that move me most are the ones that speak directly to our human experience, the ones that make my hair stand on end.

Performing for audiences around the world has taught me something simple and essential: what matters most is the connection, the moments shared. I consider it an honor to share music with you, and I carry deep gratitude for every piece of music we create and witness together.

Sæunn´s Residency at Holden House

During my residency at Holden House in East Calais, Vermont, I am exploring music-making as a living, relational practice. This time is devoted to deep listening, embodied presence, and creating music that responds to place, people, and moment.

The residency includes intimate public performances and private 1:1 sessions held at Holden House, unless otherwise specified.

Marrow: The 6 Suites for Solo Cello by J.S. Bach

The year 2020 marked 300 years since J.S. Bach wrote the staple of the cello repertoire, the 6 Suites for solo cello. Sæunn celebrated these masterpieces by performing them all in one day on the Summer Solstice, June 20th, in churches around the Westfjords in Iceland and subsequently recording them in the Sono Luminus studio in Virginia.
